I am a registered TCM physician in Singapore, with bachelor degrees in Chinese Medicine and Biomedical Sciences from Nanyang Technological University and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. Currently, my area of focus is on pain and injury management, having had over 6 years of experience in this field working with athletes, working adults, elderly and many others.
Growing up in an English speaking environment, TCM is something that no one expected me to pursue as a full-time career. Even till today, I'm always asked "Why TCM?".
Firstly, as an avid frisbee and rugby player, TCM has always been a great help to me. Since young, i've met several skilled physicians who managed to treat my numerous sports injuries, even when conventional medicine couldn't. Secondly, I also wanted to pick up a skill that I could develop and use to help others.
I started thetcmfolks, because I believe that Traditional Chinese Medicine can be used to make the world a better, healthier place. I want to help non-native Chinese speakers understand this difficult topic and hopefully inspire more folks to start using TCM and reap the amazing benefits that TCM has to offer.
To me, TCM shouldn't just make you feel better temporarily, it should be used to address the root of your problem. Not everything needs to be solved with medication or surgery, with TCM being a simple and effective way of complementing western medicine. Seeing my patients recover, going back to what they love doing and not having to depend on me anymore, is the most rewarding part of being a physician.
